About Us

William Donahue mediator and lawyerWilliam H. Donahue, Jr., Esq., APM, founded Transitions Mediation Center in 1995 to address the growing need for mediation in the Philadelphia and southern New Jersey area as an alternative to expensive, time-consuming and emotionally draining litigation.

Donahue mediates a wide range of family disputes including divorce. Specializing in the mediation of high-conflict cases and cases involving children, he often uses a collaborative mediation approach, in which a team of professionals, including a mediator, two attorneys and a therapist, works with the family.

As an employment practices mediator, Donahue also mediates workplace disputes. Transitions Mediation Center offers a workplace-training seminar that teaches companies how to set up and maintain their own in-house dispute resolution programs.

Admitted to practice law in 1984, William Donahue is a practicing divorce and family lawyer. He has maintained a private litigation practice in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey for 20 years. His practice includes divorce, domestic violence, adoption, and post-divorce cases, as well as personal injury, criminal matters, real estate, and wills and trusts.

He is a nationally recognized speaker on divorce mediation and on workplace mediation and dispute resolution focusing on discrimination, sexual harassment and Americans With Disabilities Act issues. His book Reconcilable Differences: A Consumer's Guide to Divorce Mediation explains the basic principles underlying mediation, and shows how couples with whom he has worked were able to use those principles in mediation to resolve their own divorces.
